I love love love Weissbier and just can’t get enough of it. One I drink fairly regularly is Weihenstephan Kristall Weissbier – an ideal Weissbier for those who aren’t really a fan of it or are just getting into it as it can be an acquired taste.
Weihenstephan also do a traditional Weissbier which has a blue label (and I’ve spotted it before in Sainsbury’s on Regent Road but don’t head up that way too often) which is arguably nicer but it’s easier for me to get hold of the Kristall (or what we call the ‘green one’) as they sell it in Asda where we get our big shop so I drink this one more.
We holidayed in Germany in October 2013 and while in Berlin took a visit to their restaurant. We only had a drink but the beer was lovely. A really cute little place that wasn’t overly touristy and it also had a historic basement which was a nice touch.
It also claims to be the oldest brewery in the world, tracing its history back to 1040 so they must be doing something right!
